Who we are and what we're doing

We make luxurious and fashionable health and relaxation products.

First of all, how do your pronounce your first name?!

For the english speaker, it sounds closest to "MEH-Deh". Hear it pronounced in Danish if you are curious!

How long have you been in this business?

We introduced the first prototype pillow to friends and family as gifts for Christmas 2005. In mid-2006 we decided to target a few major retailers in San Francisco with our first design, The Classic. The interest was overwhelming, so we officially launched Mette Vangso - San Francisco.

We now produce three different pillows lines in a range of gorgeous fabrics and they are sold all over the world in high-end boutiques, spas and resorts.

What materials do you work with and why?

Our products are all about fashion, luxury and wellness. We work with the best quality fabrics and fabric designers and are currently in development on our own fabric designs.

The pillows are filled with 100% certified organic grains and natural flowers. All of our products are designed and handmade in San Francisco by a fabulous team of creative people and lots of thought is put into every design to assure we are providing both functional and luxurious products for mind, body and soul.

Where were you born & what was your childhood like?

I was born in Copenhagen, Denmark. My childhood was playful and inspiring in many ways. My dad was my idol growing up as he has a strong entrepreneurial spirit, and is creative with a great sense of humor. He was definitely ahead of his time -- recognized in the early 70s for being one of the first architects to use solar power in housing.

What did you do prior to launching?

Prior to this business I worked for 12 years as an accounting consultant for the film and television industry. I've worked with a variety of studios including Sony, Disney and San Francisco’s Wild Brain.
